Texas Water Safari

Texas Water Safari Photo Page

Page two of the photos shows scenes from the first ever Texas Water Safari in 1963, when just a small handful of friends and fellow paddlers gathered to test the waters of the San Marcos and Guadalupe rivers on their journey across Corpus Christi Bay to the city of Corpus Christi, Texas and the Gulf of Mexico.

The black and white photos are from the collections of Jim Brown of Plano, Texas and Jeff Brown of Bedford, Texas, whose father founded the race. Appreciation for their efforts in creating the true story of the Texas Water Safari web site, and for their loan of these photos for this purpose, is gratefully acknowledged.
