I'll Kiss the Stars

A Song by Marc W. McCord, June 23, 2004

I started life expecting that I'd ride a shooting star
and blaze my way across a spectral sky.
Life was full of promise of a chance that I'd go far
reflected by the twinkle in my eye.

I burned a path of triumphs, failures and loose ends.
Never did I worry where I'd been.
The course I charted led me to some road with many bends.
Along the way were enemies and friends.

I'll kiss the stars. I'll hug the moon. I'll dance my way across eternity.
This life of mine has lost its way. My soul is ever longing to be free.

Approaching what I see as something I choose to avoid
my life is turning now from bad to worse.
I could run a river filled with all the tears I've cried.
What seemed to be a blessing was a curse.

By sunup tomorrow morning I will leave this world behind.
I don't expect that you will understand.
All my dreams and plans have turned to dust within my mind.
There's no one around to give a helping hand.

I'll kiss the stars. I'll hug the moon. I'll dance my way across eternity.
This life of mine has lost its way. My soul is ever longing to be free.

My friend will wonder why I chose to go out this a way
but they don't know the troubles that I've seen.
They all think my life is charmed because of things I say
but they don't want to travel where I've been.

I'll kiss the stars. I'll hug the moon. I'll dance my way across eternity.
This life of mine has lost its way. My soul is ever longing to be free.

This life of mine has lost its way. My soul is ever longing to be free.
