Lingering Memories
A Song by Marc W. McCord
(C) March 8, 2002

We first met in 1963
I always wished you were the one for me
Our first date was 1966
You were the princess I thought you would be

When I took you to the senior prom
You made me feel like I was walking on air
In June we parted, went our separate ways
After 35 years, you were suddenly there

Lingering memories are all that I have left
Everday I'm missing you a little more
It seems so long since last I saw your face
And lingering memories are all that I have left.

We started out just like a whirlwind
Making up for all the time we lost
Then things went south and it was time to part
The price I paid was much too high a cost

You said some things that we will both regret
I'm at a loss why you threw us away
Of all the loves I've had none could compare
To how it hurt to leave you that sad day.

Lingering memories are all that I have left
Everday I'm missing you a little more
It seems so long since last I saw your face
And lingering memories are all that I have left.

If I could go back and start it all again
There are some things I would not say or do
I'm the reason why you lost that love
I know that that I will not get over you

Lingering memories are all that I have left
Everday I'm missing you a little more
It seems so long since last I saw your face
And lingering memories are all that I have left.
It seems so long since we said our goodbyes
And lingering memories are all that I have left
Lingering memories are all that I have left.
