A Heart is a Delicate Thing
A Song by Marc W. McCord

A heart is a delicate thing.
You can shake it, you can break it
but you can't put it together again
because a heart is a delicate thing.

You said that you loved me and I said I love you, too
Our worlds came together after many years apart.
Our lives were very different, but we both knew the score.
Without any hesitation I entrusted you with my heart.

We started like a bonfire, flames scortching the sky.
Holding you so close to me made my life complete.
You brought a special warmth to me that I will not forget,
A love as strong as what we had was oh so very sweet.

A heart is a delicate thing.
You can shake it, you can break it
but you can't put it together again
because a heart is a delicate thing.

A love like ours burns hot, and brighter than the sun,
But fires this hot and bright burn fast and die.
Our differences were magnified by tempers tempest storm.
You gave up on us before you ever really tried.

Winter's winds blow long and cold, and chill me to the bone.
I left you in the desert where you have made your home.
The hardest thing I ever did was leaving you behind.
You said and did some things you knew would leave us each alone.

A heart is a delicate thing.
You can shake it, you can break it
but you can't put it together again
because a heart is a delicate thing.
My heart is a very delicate thing.
